Oracle consultants Liberata chose Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition for Croydon Council

In 2002, Liberata undertook a project, working with and on behalf of Croydon Council, to implement an e-Procurement solution. The aim of the project was to introduce a solution that required the minimum of user intervention and was automated wherever possible. Looking for a solution to allow for the automatic electronic delivery of documents, led Liberata to choose Open Text Fax Server Connector for Oracle.

Oracle Development Consultant, Kathryn Patman related “We were looking for a large company with a proven reputation in this field and Avanquest offered this. Obviously, integration with Oracle was a key consideration.” Focusing on the integration issue, Kathryn continued “Oracle Financials had been in use, at Croydon Council, since March 1999. With the introduction of the e-Procurement solution we needed a reliable network fax / email solution that would easily integrate with the existing environment.”

Liberata are using a standard hardware setup of Compaq Proliant running Windows 2000 SP3 . The Fax Server Connector for Oracle, is running as a member server within a Windows NT domain structure. With this setup, Purchase Order documents are automatically despatched electronically via email and fax.

With the Fax Server Connector for Oracle E-Business Suite™, RightFax FCL is written into the Oracle Purchasing 11i application of Oracle Internet Procurement. This is the only product with such a distinction from Oracle. This built-in option makes it easy and convenient for companies to implement, manage, and use Fax Server production capabilities.

The Fax Server Connector for Oracle E-Business Suite allows data that is typically printed from Oracle Purchasing 11i applications to be simply sent to the Fax Server Integration Module using the Fax Server Connector for Oracle E-Business Suite. The proper form is accessed, the data is overlaid on the form, signatures and graphics are placed on the document, and the completed document is delivered via standard phone lines or the Internet.

Commenting on the benefits that the Fax Server solution has brought to Croydon Council, Kathryn had this to say: “Once a requisition is raised and approved the remainder of the process is transparent to the user. Our stationery supplier receives orders via fax and delivers goods to the desk on the next working day. Requisitions for stationery items used to have to be faxed manually by each requisitioner, and there are some 800 users spread throughout the borough.”

Fax Server Connector for Oracle is supported directly by Avanquest and PC Anywhere has been installed by Liberata to allow for remote support.
