Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition integrated with Sage
Mortons of Horncastle Limited, Publisher and Printers, have successfully integrated Open Text Fax Server with Sage ERP, streamling their enterprise-wide business information and management control.
Sam Cherry, an ICT Technician at Mortons approached Avanquest UK with the problem “We are looking to improve our business information delivery and need a solution that can easily be integrated with Sage Enterprise and our advert booking system.”
Mortons was founded in the 19th Century in Lincoln. Queen Victoria was on the throne when enterprising Lincolnshire publisher W K Morton brought mechanical typesetting to the market town of Horncastle. Avanquest UK does not have quite such a long history, but has been supplying leading-edge, best of breed, Corporate Solutions for almost twenty years, implementing and supporting a wide range of clients from Public Sector and Government, Financial Services, Legal and Manufacturing.
Mortons, Publisher and Printers use a Sage Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution which provides enterprise-wide business information and management control. Their requirement for Fax Server was based around the need to be able to send out proofs, not only from their 100 PC users, but also from their 50 Macintosh workstations. They wanted to be able to send out files in Quark Express, Photoshop and Acrobat PDF’s. Solutions needed to start with data capture, through work flow, business process and content management – culminating in information delivery, with the ability to store, audit trail, report, retrieve, secure and protect all digital assets at every stage in accordance with compliance targets.
Although there is not a designated client available for MAC systems, faxes can still be sent using the Fax Server Web Client. This gives an added benefit when dialing in from offsite locations as users are able to manage their fax mailboxes through popular Web browsers, including Netscape Navigator, Microsoft Internet Explorer or any HTML compliant browser (HTML 3.0 and above). They are able to send, receive, forward, route, delete and print faxes, attach files and perform other functions all via the Web. Remote users simply enter the Web address of their fax servers to send, receive, forward, route, delete or print faxes. Users can also access phonebooks, billing codes, library documents and fax histories. Connectivity to the Fax Server can occur over a Secure Socket Layer (SSL v2 and v3) for privacy and protection.
Sam Cherry comments “since Avanquest installed Fax Server, we have been able to embed the Fax Server codes into our Sage forms allowing us to be able to fax information such as invoices and Bacs Remittance advice slips, saving us both time and money. We have also been able to add similar codes into other in-house systems, such as our Purchase Order System, which has proved to be very useful.”
He goes on to say “Avanquest listened and understood our needs and business plan. They were able to provide a solution that streamlined our internal processes whilst delivering a compliance conscious environment for the future.”
